Terms of use

Last updated 9 October 2026

In short

  • RecipeSync is free, and the recipes you save are yours.
  • Save recipes for your own cooking. Don’t use it to republish other people’s work.
  • Check what you cook: imported recipes and nutrition estimates can be wrong, especially about allergens.
  • If you connect an AI, your agreement with that provider applies, and you pay them for what you use.
  • You can leave whenever you like. If we ever close, we’ll give you time to copy your recipes first.

About these terms

RecipeSync is run by Langport Digital (“we”, “us”). These terms are the agreement between you and us when you use RecipeSync. By creating an account, you accept them. Please read them alongside our privacy policy, which explains how we handle your data.

Your account

  • You must be 13 or older to make an account.
  • An account is for one person. Give a real email address, so you can reset your password and we can reach you about your account.
  • Keep your password safe, and tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account. Two-factor sign-in or a passkey makes that much less likely.
  • You’re responsible for what happens in your account, unless it happened because of something we did wrong.

A free service

RecipeSync is free to use, with no paid tier, and it’s kept running by voluntary donations. We’ll do our best to keep it working well, but we can’t promise it will always be available or free of faults.

We may add, change or remove features. If we ever decide to close RecipeSync, we’ll tell you by email at least 30 days beforehand, so you have time to copy your recipes.

Your recipes and photos

Everything you add stays yours. You give us permission to store it, process it (for example, reading text from your photos, or sending it to an AI you’ve connected) and show it back to you, only so we can run RecipeSync for you. That permission ends when you delete it or close your account.

Many recipes, photos and cookbooks are protected by copyright. RecipeSync is for keeping recipes for your own cooking, which is why your recipes are private and we always keep the link to where a recipe came from. You must not use RecipeSync to copy recipes for publishing, selling or sharing publicly, and you must only upload photos you’re allowed to use.

If you believe something stored on RecipeSync infringes your rights, tell us and we’ll look into it promptly.

Using RecipeSync fairly

Please don’t:

  • break the law, or upload anything illegal, harmful or that isn’t a recipe or food photo
  • try to get into other people’s accounts or data, or test, probe or attack our systems
  • use imports to send large numbers of requests to other websites, or to reach addresses that aren’t public recipe pages
  • get around the limits on imports or AI requests, or use scripts or bots to use RecipeSync on a large scale
  • resell or offer RecipeSync as a service to others

Your own AI

Connecting an AI is optional. If you do:

  • you must be allowed to use the API key you add, under your agreement with the provider
  • the provider charges you directly for what you use, and we aren’t responsible for those charges. Check their prices, and set spending limits with them if they offer them
  • the provider’s own terms decide how they handle what we send them for you
  • what the AI suggests can be wrong, which is why you check it before anything is saved

Recipes, nutrition and safety

Recipes are saved as they were written, or as read from a page, photo or text, and reading them isn’t always perfect. Amounts can be misread, steps can be missed, and converting units or scaling servings involves rounding.

Nutrition figures come from the recipe’s source, from you, or from an estimate by your AI. They’re a guide only. Nothing in RecipeSync is medical or dietary advice.

Always check ingredients for allergies and intolerances, and make sure food is cooked safely, whatever a recipe says.

Donations

Donations through Ko-fi are voluntary gifts. They don’t buy features, a different kind of account or any guarantee about the service. Ko-fi’s own terms apply to the payment.

Closing an account

You can delete your account at any time in Settings › Profile. Everything in it is deleted straight away.

We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or that puts the service or other people at risk. Unless there’s a good reason not to, such as security or a legal requirement, we’ll tell you first, explain why and give you a chance to put things right or copy your recipes.

Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn’t allow us to exclude. Nothing affects your legal rights as a consumer.

Otherwise, because RecipeSync is a free service for personal use, we aren’t responsible for:

  • losses that weren’t a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms
  • business losses, as RecipeSync is for personal use only
  • mistakes in recipes or nutrition figures that you could reasonably have spotted, or charges from your AI provider

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when we add features or the law changes. We’ll update the date at the top, and tell you by email or in the app at least 30 days before an important change takes effect. If you don’t agree, you can delete your account before then.

The law that applies

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts, and your local consumer law still protects you.
