The small print
Cookie policy
Last updated 9 October 2026
In short
RecipeSync only uses the cookies it needs to sign you in and keep your account secure. There are no advertising, analytics or tracking cookies, and none from anyone else. Because every cookie is strictly necessary, the law doesn’t require us to ask your permission, but you should still know what they are.
What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser, so it can recognise your browser on the next page or the next visit. Websites can also keep things in your browser’s local storage or cache, which works in a similar way and is covered by the same rules, so we list those here too.
Cookies we set
Strictly necessary
Sign you in, keep your account secure and remember choices you make. The site can’t work without them.
- recipesync-session
Keeps you signed in as you move from page to page.
Lasts 2 hours after your last visit
- XSRF-TOKEN
Proves that forms you send came from this site, which stops other sites acting on your behalf.
Lasts 2 hours after your last visit
- remember_web_59ba36addc2b2f9401580f014c7f58ea4e30989d
Only set when you tick "Remember me". Keeps you signed in on this device until you log out.
Lasts 400 days
- cookie_consent
Remembers that you’ve seen the cookie notice, and any choices you made, so we don’t ask again.
Lasts 180 days
Other things we store in your browser
- flux.appearance
Local storage. Remembers whether you chose light or dark mode, so pages don’t flash the wrong colours while loading.
Until you change it or clear your browser data
- recipesync:shopping:…
Local storage. Holds items you tick on a shopping list while you’re offline, until our server has them.
Until they’re sent, or you log out
- recipesync-…
Cache storage, used by the installable app. Keeps the app’s styles and scripts, and shopping lists you’ve opened, so they work without a signal.
Until you log out
When you log out, we clear the shopping lists and unsent ticks saved on that device, so the next person to use it can’t see them.
Other websites
We don’t load anything from other companies (fonts included), so no one else can set cookies through our pages. Links to other sites, such as a recipe’s source or our Ko-fi page, take you to sites with their own cookie policies.
Your choices
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser’s settings. If you block the strictly necessary ones, you won’t be able to sign in.
How we handle the rest of your data is explained in our privacy policy. Questions? Contact us.
